51st State Festival 2016 // Trent Park Sat 6th Aug
51st State Festival is back for it’s second year on 6th August and Trent Park will be a road block, another sold out event for The Found team, round of applause. Simple Lampoon have been lucky enough to land a spot and bwoy am I excited! I missed last year and had to put up with rafts of facebook updates with friends sporting, “take me back to the old school” and “I love 51st State” t-shirts. I couldn’t let that happen again. This year, the chance to relive one's youth amongst some of the biggest names in house, garage, disco, soul, dub, and dancehall was too much.
Not forgetting the awesome after party at Ministry of Sound, for those who party hard, you know who you are. See you there.
Here’s our list of unmissable 51st State tastemakers, trail-blazers and seminal figures:
Crystal Waters
An absolute legend. She’s been rocking the house scene since 1990 and is still in the game, check out her Facebook page for tunes no doubt you'll all recognise. I’ll be at the front dancing away like a big kid.
Roger Sanchez
Still hot for an older dude, yes he’s married and his wife is beautiful but when he takes the stage I will be in my shades cutting the most amount of shapes. Strong game on social - follow him on Instagram for loads of video content. If you miss him at the festival then you can catch him at the after party!!
Kings of House
Ok we aren’t in Miami but you get the drift, plus if we get the weather we’ve had for the past few weeks who needs Miami! Watch these masters fill our ears with their epic house beats, and leave us all wanting more. Too many mixes to mention from the legendary musical icons but check out this mix from their Ministry of Sound set.
Soul II Soul
My brother calls me, “Can I be your plus one, I need to see these dudes!!”. My reply, “No you can’t keep on moving”. I know its mean but he knows it's all love. 25 years and they’re still bangin, homegrown in London Town they will be rocking the Main Stage and I’ll be rocking along with them.
