The Bristol Playground

With close to 100,000 entrants, there were a lot of people disappointed about missing out on the chance to zip down the giant Park Street waterslide. Projects like this make Bristol the eccentric, fun city we all love to live in, and make jealous Londoners write pithy comments on the Guardian website. If only we could make the water slide a permanent fixture, one of many quirky landmarks across the city. I suggest that we turn Bristol in to a massive, adult playground (and not in a fetish club sort of way).
If you've ever found yourself looking enviously at those kiddies in soft play areas, or have to hold yourself back when walking past a see-saw in the park – these ideas could be the solution. Park and Slide has set a precedent and I will not stop until every other historic building has a permanent ball pit!
Zip wire across the Avon Gorge
Before our famous suspension bridge was completed, it ran out of funds for several years and so just the towers were finished; a cable was strung up between them and scenic basket rides were offered to the braver citizens of the city. I say that we reinstate this sort of daredevil travel – what could be more exhilarating than gliding across the gorge on your way to work? It certainly beats sitting in traffic on the Portway.
Pedalos in the Harbour
Even better if they’re the ones with the slides on, or the big ones in the shape of swans. Maybe we could have Gromit ones? If everyone just stopped what they were doing and made Gromits I’m pretty sure the economy of the South West would go through the roof! I mean eventually the Gromit market would crash and we’d end up carting round wheelbarrows of Gromit figurines just to exchange for a paltry loaf of bread…
Zorbing in the docks
On second thoughts, Zorbing may be a better idea. It would seem a whole lot more hygienic to have a physical barrier between yourself and the River Avon. You’d get to see the Matthew from a whole new perspective!
Ball Pit Bear Pit
What should be done to improve the Bear Pit? Well it's obvious when you think about it....
