‘Escape to Cuba’ hitting Bristol in June
UPDATE: TICKETS NOW ON SALE - GET THEM HERE WHILE YOU CAN!
After the resounding success of their last event, the team behind ‘Prohibition Bristol’ are once again transforming central venue The Milk Thistle into the hottest party destination in town. Maybe even beyond town. Probably as far, if not further than Reading. I just don't know!
Escaping to Cuba, what’s that got to do with Prohibition?
Rum, that’s what. During the Prohibition days of old (may they rest in peace), Bacardi enticed Americans over to Cuba with a bountiful supply of rum. Bacardi reps would even greet the punters on the airport tarmac with a mojito. The spirit of those epic Cuban parties are now coming to Bristol in the form of a one off, blow-out event. Sign me up!
The ‘Escape to Cuba’ event itself will feature a menu of amazing (and historically accurate) cocktails as well as featuring a great selection of cabaret, burlesque, live music and DJs all with a cuban twist.
Cocktails… Like a Mojito?
Now you're getting it! Yes! A mojito! But that is just the beginning of your rum adventures. I went to check out some rum cocktails in a serious real life research role to find the ‘Escape to Cuba’ signature drink. On a Monday...
Tasty carnage ensued...

Needless to say, they all tasted amazing. Strangely tasting better as the evening progressed... The eventual consensus was that the welcoming drink would be a Planters punch, a plucky little number to kick things off, garnished with more of your 5-a-day than I usually manage. To create the 'signature cocktail' we actually went a bit off piste with the expert skills of Ash, resident mixologist at The Milk Thistle. Despite my shouts for "a dash of Um Bongo", we eventually emerged with the 'Cuban Club' which tastes like a unicorn is giving your tongue a hug (I don't do tasting notes).
